This Privacy Policy explains how Furry Walking collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use our website, mobile application, and related services.

Furry Walking is operated by Tomas Bobko, sole proprietor (Einzelunternehmen), Austria, UID: ATU82389979. You can contact us at info@furrywalking.com.

By using Furry Walking, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

1. What Furry Walking Does

Furry Walking is a dog-focused mobile app that helps users track walks, discover dog-friendly parks, connect with other dog owners, follow users, view walk activity, chat, and coordinate dog walking requests.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Account information

When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, username, password authentication data, profile details such as your bio, birthday and gender when provided, and account settings.

If you choose a third-party sign-in provider, that provider also processes information needed to authenticate you. Google Sign-In's SDK disclosure includes account contact information, potentially a phone number, identifiers, approximate location, and usage or technical information. Furry Walking does not have a phone-number field in its account form.

Dog profile information

If you add dogs to your profile, we may collect information such as dog name, breed, photos, and other details you choose to provide.

Walk and location information

When you track a walk, we may collect walk-related data such as route points, distance, duration, timestamps, selected dogs, and location data needed to show the walk route and calculate walk statistics.

Location access is controlled by your device settings. You can disable location access at any time, but some walk tracking and map features may stop working correctly.

Optional Apple Health walking workouts

On supported iPhones, you can choose to enable Apple Health before recording a new walk. With your permission, Furry Walking records an outdoor walking workout and reads Apple-generated active-calorie estimates from that workout. Calories describe the person walking, not the dog, and may be unavailable when the device does not supply the necessary data.

Enabling this integration also allows us to store the completed active-calorie total and its Apple Health source with your walk in your private Furry Walking account. This lets you see the total on your other supported devices. We do not upload your weight, heart rate, or raw Health samples.

Calorie totals are not included in feeds, public walk links, other users' walk details, Lock Screen Live Activities, advertising, or analytics. This health information is used only to provide your private walking-calorie history, with access limited to you and the service infrastructure needed to store and return it.

Pending calorie updates are kept in protected storage on your device until they can be uploaded, and local pending health information is cleared when you log out. Turning off Apple Health in Furry Walking stops future workout recording and discards an unfinished Health workout without stopping your ordinary route recording. You can separately change permissions in Health.

Deleting a Furry Walking walk removes its calorie total from our active database; deleting your account removes its associated calorie records. Our general backup-retention policy still applies. Workouts saved to Apple Health are independent and remain there until you manage or delete them in Health.

Social and feed activity

If you use social features, we may process information such as followers, following relationships, likes, public or shared walks, dog photos, profile visibility settings, and content shown in the feed.

If your profile or content is public, other users may be able to see parts of your profile and activity. If your profile is private, access may be limited based on your privacy settings and follower approvals.

Chat and dog walking request information

If you use chat or dog walking request features, we may process messages, request details, acceptance status, completion status, timestamps, and related communication needed to coordinate the request.

Device and technical information

We may collect technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash information, logs, and diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. We use Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics and related Firebase infrastructure for technical reporting.

App interaction analytics

When app analytics is enabled, we use Mixpanel to understand interactions such as opening settings, searching, and tapping feature controls, as well as ordinary walk distance and duration. These events may be associated with your account identifier and app or device information. For Apple Health settings, we record opening the screen and tapping enable or disable; these actions do not tell us whether Health permission was granted. We do not send calorie totals, Health samples, Health workout identifiers, or Health permission results to analytics.

We may use account contact information and app-usage segments for customer research or lifecycle outreach about Furry Walking. These are first-party communications, not third-party advertising. You can ask us to stop these emails by replying unsubscribe or contacting us. Apple Health data is not used to select recipients or personalize outreach.

Push notification data

If you enable push notifications, we may process notification tokens and notification preferences to send app-related notifications, such as messages, walk updates, follower activity, dog walking requests, or other relevant app events.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal data to:

Create and manage user accounts
Provide walk tracking and route features
Show dogs, parks, walks, followers, feed content, and profile information
Enable chat and dog walking request coordination
Send push notifications when enabled
Maintain app security and prevent misuse
Debug, analyze, and improve the app
Respond to support requests
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data. HealthKit-derived calorie information is used only for the private walking-calorie feature, not for advertising or analytics.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

Performance of a contract: to provide the Furry Walking app and its core features
Consent: for permissions such as location access and push notifications where required
Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, debug, and improve the service
Legal obligations: where we must comply with applicable law

You can withdraw consent-based permissions at any time through your device settings or by contacting us. The optional Apple Health integration and private calorie storage require your explicit choice in the app. Turning it off stops future collection; you can delete existing calorie records by deleting the associated walks or your account.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share data with service providers that help us operate the app, such as hosting providers, database providers, infrastructure providers, analytics or crash reporting providers, email providers, and push notification services.

These providers may only process data as needed to provide their services to us.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect our rights, to prevent fraud or abuse, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell personal data to advertisers.

6. Public Content and Other Users

Some parts of Furry Walking are social. Depending on your privacy settings and how you use the app, other users may see information such as your profile, dogs, walks, photos, likes, follower relationships, and dog walking request-related activity.

You are responsible for the information you choose to share publicly or with other users.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our terms.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account unless we are required or permitted to retain certain information for legal, security, or operational reasons.

Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being automatically deleted.

8. Account Deletion

You can request account deletion from within the app if the feature is available, or by contacting us at info@furrywalking.com.

When requesting deletion by email, use the email address connected to your Furry Walking account so we can verify the request.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You should use a strong password, protect access to your device, and avoid sharing sensitive personal information in public areas of the app.

10. Children

Furry Walking is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at info@furrywalking.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data
Delete your personal data
Restrict or object to certain processing
Receive a copy of your data
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

12. International Processing

Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

13. Third-Party Links

The website or app may link to third-party websites, services, or app stores. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. You should review their privacy policies separately.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice in the app or on the website.
